Wish Today Was Still Yesterday A Poem

I wish today
Was still yesterday
It would mean
You would still
Be with me
Instead of
An hour away.

The time we shared
It was so easy
As well as fun
At times exciting
And others comforting.
Quite the mix
But all so pleasant.

You know when you go
When you walk
Out the door.
I feel a sense of dejection
Knowing I will miss you
Miss your presence
And all it encompasses.

Can I say it enough?
How much I crave
Your kisses
And your touch?
I don't want to overwhelm
And make you feel
Like I am smothering.
So I only admit this
Wanting and need
Every other day.
Although I think of it
Almost constantly.

I wish today
Were still yesterday.
What we would be doing!
Ah that would re-affix
The smile on my face .
It has been replaced
In your absence
With what amounts to
A straight line
And on occasion
A frown.
My happiness
Seemingly intertwined
With your presence.
